Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro!

Vinod (Naseeruddin Shah) and Sudhir are the "50% owners" of Beauty Photo Studio, "Hum Honge Kamyab" is the anthem they live by and they are confident they will make it big in life some day.

Tarneja (Pankaj Kapoor) is one of the biggest and richest contractors in Mumbai, whose philospohy in life "Business ka ek hi matlab hain - doosron ki nuksan aur apna fayada" and "Kanoon aam aadmi ke liye hota hain, Tarneja ke liye nahin!". He sets up a "Super Photo Studio", run by Neena Gupta and Satish Kaushik to spy on "Khabardar" magazine which is located just across the street. The city Municipal Commissioner D'mello (Satish Shah) is hand-in-glove with them. "Khabardar" editor Shoba appoints them to spy on Tarneja and the Commr and snap photos of their dealings. Ahuja (Om Puri) is a perpetually drunk rival contractor. Tarneja murders the Commr after he has been double crossed, and evidence of the murder finds its way to the 2 photographers. This is a wonderful farewell speech from the movie by the new Commr :)

"D'Mello saab aksar kaha karte the, kisi bhi desh ki unnati ki pehchan agar kisi cheez se hoti hain, to woh hain gutter. Woh gutter ke liye jiye, woh gutter ke liye mare...marte marte unke aakhri shabd they.....gutter! Ham unki yaad mein ek din ke liye shehar ke saari gutter band kar denge"

It is then a wild chase for the body of the Commr, and Vinod and Sudhir finally manage to convince the police and catch everyone responsible for the murder and expose the irregularities in the system, after everyone groups against them.

The climax at the Mahabharata drama scene wins my award for the funniest climax ever in a Hindi movie, narrowly overtaking the equally wonderful “Andaz Apna Apna” climax. The ending is also unconventional and in the true spirit of the movie.

This is a must watch for comedy film fans :)
