Gods own country?

Kerala is widely touted as God's own country, but recent incidents in the capital seem to indicate otherwise. Two slightly old incidents, which surprisingly did not make much news nationally inspite of their brutality.

The first involved a murder of an engineering student from the College of Engineering, Trivandrum; in which a student, hailing from the Andamans, was murdered, cut up, stuffed into a sack, and then dumped on the highway bypass. The sack was found a few days after the murder. I cant even imagine what must be going through the minds of the parents of the poor boy even as you read this...they send him to a new place with all sorts of dreams and this is what hapenes to him. I dont know what was the role of the boy himself in his own murder, but spare a thought for his family...

The Hindu reports on the story here

In another bizarre incident, a young man was rolled to death (yeah, you read me right, ROLLED) by the police when he was kept in custody. If the news report which came in a mallu daily, which detailed some of the tortures the police employed on the youth, I am ashamed to say that I hail from Trivandrum. I cant even use proper words to describe the tortures here, they were so gross, to say the least. Sadly, cant find a proper english news link for the same. You can use your imagination to figure out what must have happened in his case. I am really surprised that this tortuous act has not received any media coverage! Sania Mirza changing the design of her nose ring would have made much more news than this....

Where is Gods own country headed to??...

Good thing it didn't receive media coverage and I DON'T want to click on those links. Better that way. I don't give a damn about such crappy news.

As vainglorious as it may sound, Sania Mirza, or any Page 3 gliteratti for that matter, is a far better option to come on the news than some grissly murders which are, at best, reserved for Hollywood slashers.

Long live Playboy!

As for `God's Own Country`, was there any in the first place?

As for the last para, I must admit it is indeed God's own country...Take a train trip to Trivandrum frm Chennai, and you wont need a board to inform you that u r in Kerala..the landscapes speak for itself...streams, greenery, fields, coconut tres...aah...I wanna go home!

Are you blaming God's own country or the media?
The newspapers and TV channels in Kerala gave importance to this incident locally.

Another Circle Inspector was even suspended for covering up the culprits from media when they were brought to court.
The media did their job pretty well here.It did affected in the civic polls too.

The investigation team came to Chennai for the case related to that boy's death.
So the killers might be in Chennai :)

Of course I agree with your point on Sania is on top :)
