Katrina, 9-11, 7-7, etc and Indian tragedies

Was just wondering about this fact - The Americans and the British give some fancy name to every tragedy that strikes them - Katrina being the most recent one, 9/11 for the WTC attack, 7-7 for the London bomb blasts, and some vague names i dont recollect for a couple of hurricanes that struck the US earlier this year.

Look at the tragedies that strike India and the names with which we refer to them - The Bombay rains (we still dont have a name for the tragedy!), Ayodhya, Latur (earthquake), the Tsunami, Bombay serial blasts...

Why cant these buggers just refer to the tragedies as - The WTC attack, London serial bomb blasts, the New Orleans Hurricane, or something with which you can atleast relate to, and try to do some relief work in the time you waste to come up with such fancy titles!

All hurricanes and tropical storms are given names even if they don't result in disaster. More details here

But branding of terrorist acts is still there.

Okay... I dont think it's fair to take Mumbai and New Orleans as a fair representation of their respective companies.

I'm sure if disaster struck Washington DC or New York (a la 9/11/01), the response statistics would change drastically.

First time on your blog.
Yep these guys love to make a big hullabaloo about their tragedies.
They celebrate them like any other festival. 9/11 fourth anniversary Hah! Like we'd love to celebrate Kashmir bombings everyday. For the love of God, I can't understand how "their" lives and deaths are so much more "glorious" than ours. It's such a mockery of their own concept of global culture and egalitarianism.
